What time does the wedding start?
The wedding ceremony starts at 12 noon.
Arrive a little earlier to find your seats and mingle, around 11:30am.
What is that symbol 囍 I see everywhere?
They symbol is made from two "happiness" characters joined together, known as the "double happy". It is used as a sign of love and weddings in China.
Can I bring my partner or children?
Numbers for catering and tables is pre-arranged, so please stick to just the names on your invite
Where do we fly to?
Fly in to either Airport in Shanghai. From there a bullet train can be taken directly to Yixing
You can take a bus or train between airports, they're about half an hour apart - traffic dependent.

How do we get around in China?
Between cities the trains are great. Within the city the easiest option is a taxi. Taxis in China are pretty cheap.

How many people speak English?
In bigger cities more people will, and younger people tend to speak more English than older, but on the whole most people do not speak good English.
It's a good idea to get familiar with Google Translate. Some hotels will have an English speaker on the staff, though it's often limited. Resturants who are used to tourists will also have a picture menu which you can point at.
Can I learn Chinese?
It's a hard language! If you want to learn a little, Busuu and Duolingo are both good apps. Learning a few phrases might help too.
Can I use my NZ appliances and phone chargers?
Generally not. China has a couple of different plug types, so some places will have a AU/NZ plug, but most places you'll need an adaptor
